A 7 year old entrepreneur in Pleasanton, CA… who woulda thunk?! I had the privilege of meeting this young man for myself as I was driving down Del Valle Parkway in Pleasanton yesterday afternoon and just had to stop. Who could pass up an adorable little boy sitting at a table selling ice cream, Skittles and licorice? At first my daughter and I were just going to stop and help support his business , but then I got to talking to his mom and learned so much about this brilliant child.
Reilly Curry is a 7 year old entrepreneur in the making, but it all started around the age of 3! His mother started taking him to a wood-shop class to interact with other children and Reilly decided he was going to make wood blocks and sell them for 50 cents. His mother didn’t think anything of it, and had no clue people would be interested in buying wood blocks from her 3-year old son, but to her surprise she was wrong. Apparently handmade blocks from a 3-year old were a hit!
Currently in the 2nd grade, home-schooled by his mother, Reilly wanted to take math to another level. He came to his mom with the idea of setting up a table outside of their house and selling goods to the high school students as they walk home from school. This is his Thursday math lesson. His mother gave him a budget, took him to Costco, and let him pick out some items to sell. He set up a business plan, figured out what products would gain the most profit and opened up his own little store. Reilly does the math on his own, figures out how much the total purchase costs each customer, and also figures out what change is due back to them. Can you say genius?
Reilly knows exactly how much profit he makes from each item he sells. He’s learned that Skittles do not have as much of a profit as he’d like, so heads up… it may not be available to you next week. His mother does not give him any extra money to spend on his store so he uses the profit he makes to put back into his business. Through doing this weekly math activity Reilly has learned how to add and subtract money, he’s learned profit & loss, and also money management. He sets aside some of his profit and buys his own electronics and toys, currently saving up to buy himself a new skateboard.
If you’re in the Downtown Pleasanton area I highly suggest you stop by and meet this 7 year old entrepreneur next Thursday afternoon between 3-3:30 pm. You can’t miss him as you’re driving down Del Valle Parkway!

Are you facing foreclosure with a loan originated with World Savings or Wachovia? Pleasanton, CA Wachovia/World Savings is partnering with local Realtors to get the word out… HELP IS AVAILABLE! Foreclosure does not have to be your last resort, as Wachovia/World Savings is working with home owners to help keep your home or short sale if necessary.
What are some of the benefits to short sale instead of foreclose?
- You can generally buy a home after 18 months compared to 5-7 years with a foreclosure
- You can live in the property until your local Realtor finds a new owner to occupy your home
- Your credit is not affected as much with a short sale compared to a foreclosure
- Some of the banks are offering the sellers a cash incentive at the close of escrow to help with relocation assistance. Wachovia/World Savings is offering $5,000 in relocation assistance (For higher end homes it may be possible to get an increased payout amount from Wachovia/World Savings)
Wachovia/World Savings is making it easier for home owners to get out of home loans that are currently “under water”. They are not requesting letters of hardship, financial statements, or any explanation as to why you can no longer make your monthly mortgage payment. They know you need out and are giving you the opportunity to do so.
As a local Realtor in the Tri-Valley area servicing Pleasanton CA, Livermore CA, Dublin CA, and San Ramon CA, I work directly with the number one Wachovia/World Savings Northern California decision maker for home owners in default, Robert Jackson. He is my main point of contact and is reaching out to us to help YOU. He has made it very clear that we can close escrow on a short sale property in as little as 40 days and get you out of the financial stress you are currently facing. Instead of dealing with short sale negotiator after short sale negotiator, Bobby Jackson is my direct contact to approve an offer almost instantly (compared to the 30 day wait process we usually face). He has created a very stream lined system with Wachovia/World Savings to help get you out of financial stress and on with your life.
What do you need to do first? Call Wachovia/World Savings at 888-308-3964 and follow the steps to see if you can qualify for a modification. What we want more than anything is for you to be able to keep the home you have invested in thus far. You MUST have an income stream. This is a direct WACHOVIA number. Please be careful not to be scammed by others!
What do you do if you do not qualify for a loan modification? Contact a local Realtor like myself to help guide you through your Wachovia/World Savings short sale transaction. It is very important to contact a Real Estate Attorney and a CPA to discuss legal questions you may have as well.
Are you facing foreclosure with a loan originated with World Savings or Wachovia in Pleasanton, CA? I am now here to help!

As a Realtor of Pleasanton, CA I plan to give back to the public schools in their time of need by donating a portion of my commission for each home sold. How can you help?
During this state budget crisis, Pleasanton Unified School District has cut TWENTY million dollars from their education funding. Now it’s estimated that an additional three million dollars will be cut from this upcoming school year! As much as they (Pleasanton Unified School District) try and keep these cuts as far away from the classrooms as possible, it has now reached a point where classrooms and student services are all that remain. As of next year the students will no longer have a Physical Education Specialist, Technology Specialist, and half of the required Reading Specialists. The library hours will be drastically cut and the fifth graders will no longer have the option of participating in band or strings. The students already have “late days” every Wednesday, when they start school at 9:15am instead of their usual 8:15am start the rest of the week. As of next year they will add an “early dismissal day” once a week as well. This will consequently take away valued resources and precious class time from the student that is necessary for them to learn. With less class time, fewer materials, and a lack of teachers, how do we expect these students to receive a quality education and become the future leaders of our communities?
Pleasanton Unified School District worked very hard to help pass Measure E, which would have taxed each parcel in Pleasanton an additional $98 a year over the next four years. This money would have gone directly to the student’s education and in no way, shape, or form would have been used to increase salaries or benefits for the teachers and administrators. The goals of this measure were to emphasize core academic instruction that improves math, science, and reading skills; attract and retain highly-qualified teachers; as well as keep school libraries open and services available, while minimizing class size increases. Unfortunately, Pleasanton as a community decided against the measure and it will no t be enforced.
I love my job as a Realtor as it can be a very fulfilling job when you help put families into new homes. However, I want to go above and beyond that sense of fulfillment. There’s more we can do to help as Realtors and citizens representing our community, that will help make difference and assist our public schools. I have made it my personal goal to raise a minimum of $10,000 to donate to the public schools in the Tri-Valley area by December 31, 2011. A check big or small can make the biggest difference to the students that will be able to benefit from the donations received.
It is OUR job as Realtors to help maintain the desirability to live in the towns we represent. Giving back to the public schools and being a part of keeping them one of the top ranking districts in the nation, is one way of accomplishing that!
